I ride these on an original slush slashers and I am so in love. Surfy. Super kushy. Super flexy yet responsive if you are bombing. I'm 38 and my knees, feet and joints in between appreciate the insane feeling of nothing even when putting it down in the flats. Very noticeable. Really is mind blowing. Maybe its because I am coming from a set of North Stars. I don't know. These things charge and respond just as well but somehow provide more cushion and more flex seemingly only when you need it. I don't know this is future sh*t for sure. Unreal. For me anyways.

I watched a lot of positive reviews on this binding and will say that it has exceeded my expectations. After my first ride with the Union Ultra I noticed great comfort, shock absorption and response. The ratchets are smooth and consistent up and down the ladders. The molecular bushing base plate helps kill off vibrations and reduce foot fatigue. The toe and ankle strap wrapped around my size 12 boot with no issues and provided a lot of comfort with easy customization. The adjustable heel cup is easy to adjust to center your boot on your board. There is no forward lean adjuster but I believe this is a pro adding to the bindings simplicity, the default lean I feel is like 6 degrees or so. The highback is nice and has a medium to soft flex but still holds you well and provides power on heel side turns. Lastly, the mini disk underfoot helps tremendously with butters and flexibility on my medium flex board. The large bindings fit perfectly for my 265cm waist width board. If you’re looking for a shock absorbing, comfortable, responsive freestyle binding then the Union Ultra is likely the best buy and 1 of a kind on the market. I just picked up a more playful board and wanted a binding that would work better with it than my stiff freeride bindings. I also needed something that would give my knees the vibration reduction they need after a couple knee surgeries. Going back and forth on a couple, I went with the Ultras with the intent of using them all mountain and not so much for park (see the bad knee comment above). I got out on them this weekend and while there was some fresh snow, it was a lot of crust and chunder. The baseplate material on these bindings seemed to absorb EVERYTHING. Despite my board struggling to grip in some sections and feeling that familiar shudder of a turn sliding out on you a bit, the expected jolt just didn't come. Hitting a few little side hits and landing relatively flat felt fine - the bindings took the impact and my knees survived. Despite these being a softer flex and more freestyle oriented, I found edge to edge transfer was pretty quick. I used them in some really tight trees and some really steep freeride zones and they handled like a champ. If you need some vibration control to save your joints, look no further than the Ultras. The base material seems to absorb everything and hoping they last. I would love to see this same sort of design mixed with a little stiffer overall binding design and I'll grab those for my more freeride oriented board.
